2005 Annual Report
4d.Progress report.
This report serves to document research conducted under a specific cooperative agreement with Oregon State University, Columbia Basin Agricultural Research Center, Pendleton, OR. Additional details may be found in the report of the parent project 5348-21000-019-00D.
We evaluated 2798 plots in 4 locations in Oregon using field based and laboratory based methods. In 2005, 1164 plots were evaluated as head rows for resistance to stripe rust. The other 1634 plots were planted as replicated yield trials in several agro-ecological zones of Northeastern Oregon and evaluated for resistance to disease, especially stripe rust, and height, heading date, grain yield, test weight, and end use quality traits. This project will provide new club wheat cultivars for wheat growers in Oregon. This research is conducted by Steve Petrie at Oregon State University with collaboration from OSU employees Nathan Blake, Karl Rhinehardt, Earling Jacobsen, and Jim Peterson, as well as Kim Garland-Campbell of the USDA-ARS Wheat Genetics, Quality, Physiology, and Disease Research Unit at Pullman WA. One advanced breeding line, ARS99123 was entered into the statewide Oregon small grain variety trials in advance of potential release as a new cultivar.
