Research Project:
DEVELOPMENT AND COORDINATION OF TRITICEAE GENOMICS RESOURCES
Location: Genomics and Gene Discovery
2005 Annual Report
4d.Progress report.
This report serves to document research conducted under a specific cooperative agreement between the ARS and the University of California, Davis. Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent CRIS 5325-21000-010-00D, Database and Bioinformatic Resources for Small Grains Research and Crop Improvement. The cooperative agreement has facilitated the coordination of data accumulation from laboratory sites throughout the U.S. and internationally, and has collaborated in the organization and operations of several wheat genomics projects. Relevant data is evaluated and portions included in publicly available database and web resources maintained and developed by the parent project. This subordinate project has contributed computer scripts and data formatting for the parent project, and the migration of the parent project database into a relational database system. A major accomplishment this past year was the completion of a large-scale multi-institution wheat EST and mapping project for which the current project played a major role in bioinformatics and EST generation. In addition, activities have included the distribution of genetic markers to laboratories, collaboration in the preparation of large-insert wheat library resources for wheat genomics research, and design of oligonucleotide microarrays for wheat functional genomics research.
