Research Project:
SPLANCHNIC AND HIND LIMB METABOLISM OF SELENIUM AND METHIONINE IN INFECTION STRESSED EWES
Location: Dubois, Idaho
2005 Annual Report
4d.Progress report.
This report serves to document research conducted under a non-funded cooperative agreement between ARS and New Mexico State University. Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent project #5364-31000-007-00D, Integrated Systems for Increasing Production Efficiency of Sheep. Results from research conducted during the reporting period indicate that infection stress increased essential amino acid utilization in ewe lambs and that increased dietary methionine enhanced blood flow in the splanchnic tissues. A peer-reviewed publication entitled “The impact of methionine and infection on nutrient metabolism in nulliparous yearling ewes” is in preparation.
