Career Cruiser

The Career Cruiser is a career exploration publication to be used with eighth grade students. It provides self-assessment activities to assist students in thinking about the relationship between personal interests and career goals. Charts display sample occupations in 16 career clusters. Occupational descriptions, average earnings, and minimum educational level required for the job are also listed. Each middle school will receive a shipment of Career Cruisers in early September for their eighth grade students.

Florida Choices

Florida Choices (www.flchoices.org) is the state career information delivery system. It provides career and educational exploration and information. Florida CHOICES includes assessments for interests, aptitudes, skills, and values. Accountability reports for management of student usage are retrievable from the Professional Tools section of CHOICES. Educator and Parent Resource materials are also included.

Florida CHOICES is available at no charge to all Floridians. Educators can setup a Professional Account by submitting a Contact Form (see Training Services) to the CHOICES Team at or fax to 850-245-0995. Florida's School Counseling and Guidance Framework

Florida's School Counseling and Guidance Framework is a conceptual model that can be used by districts and schools to develop, restructure, or improve comprehensive counseling and guidance programs.

Parent Primer

The Parent Primer, a 20-page booklet, provides up-to-date information on changes taking place in education and the workplace along with strategies for parents to use when advising their teens. Electronic versions of this booklet are available in Spanish & Creole upon request. Please submit your requests to the CHOICES Team at or 800-342-9271.

Products Catalog 2008-2009

The Products Catalog 2008-2009 represents a compilation of publications available from the Department of Education. Look for videos, curriculum, instructional materials, software, and other educational resources. There are many free products available in the Products Catalog. Orders for free products may be placed by telephone, or faxed to 850-245-0995. Orders requiring payment will be processed after payment is received either by purchase order, check, or money order.
