Guided nature walks provide participants the best opportunities to see two endangered birds, the Golden-cheeked Warbler and the Black-capped Vireo, at Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. Sparrow Fest

BALCONES CANYONLANDS CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT

New birders to experienced birders are invited to participate in the all day Balcones Canyonlands Christmas Bird Count on December 15th.  This event is sponsored by the Travis Audubon Society, but the substantial portion of the survey is conducted on Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge.

Meet at the Cedar Park McDonalds (at the intersection of U.S. Highway 183 and RM 1431) to receive your assignment at 6 a.m. 

The count wraps up with a dinner and “countdown” at the Texas True Grits Grill in Jonestown starting about 6 p.m.
