Population, Land Area, and Poverty Data
for 1990 Census Tracts
The Empowerment Zone and Enterprise Community Program uses data from
the 1990 Census of Population and Housing. The documents on this site
contain the same data as found in the Bureau of the Census CPH-3 series of
publications from the 1990 Census of Population and Housing: Population
and Housing Characteristics for Census Tracts and Block Numbering Areas.
The 1990 Population and Land Area (Square Miles) columns are from Table 1 of the CPH-3 reports. The columns Persons For Whom Poverty Status
Determined and Percent Below Poverty Level are from CPH-3 Table 19.
The documents providing information on the population, land area, and
poverty data for the 1990 census tracts in each state are in Adobe Acrobat's
Portable Document Format (PDF) and require the Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0
or above for viewing. The reader is available free from the Adobe web site.
