Annual Performance Measures
Maintained by the National Park Service in Washington, D.C., Congress established the National Register of Historic Places in 1966 in the National Historic Preservation Act. The Register is the nation's official list of buildings, structures, districts, sites, and objects significant in American history, architecture, archaeology, and culture.
Oregon's National Register Program is part of the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), which is located within the Heritage Conservation Division/Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. The designated State Historic Preservation Officer administers the program with the aid of a professional staff and a governor-appointed advisory body known as the State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP).
More information on the SACHP and its role, agendas for future meetings, and meeting minutes may be found online at http://www.oregonheritage.org/OPRD/HCD/nrhp_sachphome.shtml

Information in the database is used to identify resources that could be listed in the National Register and for local, state, and federal planning efforts.
