The National Park Service and the National Trust for Historic Preservation are proud to offer A Curriculum Framework For Professional Training and Development. Designed with help from teachers, professors of education, and preservation professionals, the Curriculum Framework explains the educational and historical foundations of the Teaching with Historic Places program. It describes how historic places can help students develop critical thinking skills and encourage them to learn about the historical and cultural resources of their own communities. The Curriculum Framework can be used in a number of settings, including inservice programs for teachers, classes in methods of teaching social studies, and training for preservation professionals and public historians who want to work more closely with local schools.
