Over three quarters of a century, National Freight, Inc. (NFI) has grown into one of the largest trucking companies in the U.S. and has diversified to become one of America's top 10 warehousing corporations and leading real estate development companies serving the logistics industry. National Freight operates nearly 50 trucking support centers and mobile maintenance facilities nationwide. Its has an over-the-road fleet of 2,200 tractors.

National Freight, Inc. takes a proactive approach to emissions and fuel reduction called its Four Ts (tactical, tracking, training, and technology). It has completed its own testing to determine which auxiliary power unit best fits the needs of its fleet. Consistent with its belief in the SmartWay approach, National Freight encouraged NFI Interactive Logistics to join SmartWay in 2004. National Freight staff also has promoted SmartWay in several industry presentations and in an interview on the Midnight Trucking Radio Network.
