![](https://webarchive.library.unt.edu/eot2008/20081006183830im_/http://media.ford.com/newsroom/images/fordcom/Centennial/BlueOval.jpg) In 1922, Henry T. Ford donated 50 Model-T Fords to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) for transporting World War I veterans. What was needed then, is still needed now, reliable transportation and volunteer drivers.
Oregon is once again in need of volunteer drivers. A valid drivers license and good driving record are required. Van drivers do not receive payment for the services they provide either part or full-time.
To volunteer to be a van driver for the Portland VA Medical Center, contact the DAV Coordinator at 1-800-949-1004, extension 57804 or extension 56957. For the Roseburg VA Health Care System call 541-440-1293, and for the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center & Clinics (SORCC) call 541-826-2111 ext. 3619.
DAV can be reached toll-free by calling 1-877-I Am A Vet (877-426-2838) or by going online at www.dav.org.
