Legal Services Among Top Professional Businesses in Revenues
   
    Legal services’ revenues surpassed $184 billion in 2002, up 5 percent from the previous year, making it one of the strongest performers in the professional, scientific and technical services industry, the U.S. Census Bureau reported today.

    Tables from the report, 2002 Service Annual Survey: Professional, Scientific and Technical Services, also show management scientific and technical consulting services with revenues of $122 billion, up 6 percent. Additionally, scientific research and development services increased 10 percent to $63 billion.

    While still a large revenue generator in the industry, computer system design and related services saw its 2002 revenues drop 7 percent to $172 billion from $184 billion in 2001. Revenues for custom computer programming services decreased 8 percent to $62 billion in 2002 from $67 billion in 2001.
