What: |
The U.S. Census Bureau will host a community
forum with the City of Los Angeles Emergency Preparedness
Department to explore how census data can be used
in emergency planning, preparedness and recovery
in the event of a natural disaster. The Census Bureau
assisted officials in the Gulf Coast areas affected
by Hurricane Katrina, providing a wealth of demographic,
socioeconomic and geographic data, as well as housing
and industry profiles. |
|
|
|
This is the second in a series of discussions to
be held around the nation about emergency preparedness
by the Census Bureau. The Census Bureau, which held
a similar meeting in New York City last week, hopes
to receive valuable input from local planners and
community organizations about the kinds of data
it can provide that would be most beneficial during
natural-disaster emergencies. |
