“WE WILL NEVER FORGET!”

As a nation, we are justly gracious in the honors we bestow upon the warriors who have bravely given their lives in our defense. But after the flag has been folded and “Taps” has been played, we unintentionally neglect the life altering and persistent loss borne by those warriors’ most beloved.

Since September 11, 2001 more than 240 Special Operations personnel have lost their lives while in the service of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and in the Global War on Terrorism around the world. The majority of those lost were married, and many of them had one or more children.

It is the goal of UWSF to ensure that these heroes’ ultimate sacrifice never be forgotten and that the enduring and daily sacrifices of the loved ones they left behind never be neglected.

ARE YOU A SURVIVING SPOUSE?

UWSF’s unique Bi-Annual Survivors Conferences were established with the unique needs of Special Operations widows in mind, affording an unrivaled healing experience, sense of camaraderie and support.

The Survivor Conferences (affectionately called “Survivor Reunions”) bring together Special Operations widows at various stages of bereavement with the express intent of addressing the practical and emotional aspects of their loss. Each conference includes an array of guest speakers and experts in the fields of military widowhood, bereavement, financial planning, benefits and entitlements, as well as practical classes in self defense and coping with their children’s grieving process.

The Conferences provide a safe and fun setting for the women to share stories and challenges and to forge bonds with other women who have suffered similar tragedies.
MORE

"The outpouring of support and kindness is  overwhelming, and I find it difficult to find  the words to describe how deeply I have  been touched. I may have lost the most  important person in my little world, but  through that I have gained an entire extended  family through you and the Foundation. You have all continually reminded me that  the little people are not overlooked, and that  the memories of our fallen are not forgotten. For that I thank you."
