We Are
U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service, Panama City, Florida The Panama
City Field Office of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service, established in 1973, employs 25 individuals,
including 21 biologists and ecologists.
Our Ecological Services team works to conserve
and protect the wildlife of the Panhandle, covering
16 counties,
and our Fisheries Resource staff works the entire
Northeast
Gulf of Florida, including portions of Alabama
and Georgia.
Our Mission Statement
"Conserving, protecting, and enhancing fish,
wildlife, and plants and their habitats, in cooperation
with partners, for the continuing benefit of the
American people."
Our Purpose
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was created
by Congress in 1871 to recommend solutions to the
decline in fish available for food. More than 130
years later, the USFWS has expanded to become the
only federal agency whose primary responsibility
is conserving and protecting fish, wildlife, plants
and their habitats.
