DoD
is dedicated to equipping separating service members with the
basic job-hunting skills, tools, and self-confidence necessary
to secure satisfying and productive employment in the civilian
work force. Transition programs provide counseling, education,
and employment assistance.
Similar services also are available for the spouses, and teenage
and adult children of separating members; and DoD civilians affected
by downsizing.
Operation
Transition. Provides the Transition Bulletin Board (TBB),
an automated system which contains a listing of job want ads and
other useful information to separating/retiring military and federal
civilian personnel and their spouses.
DoD Job Search
(DJS). DJS features want ads, resume writing, and referral systems
geared to transitioning military personnel and their spouses,
DoD federal civilian employees, and the spouses of relocating
active-duty members.
DoD Transportal.
Assists Service Members leaving active duty make the change to
civilian life by providing valuable information on benefits, transition
services, on-line courses, successful job searches, and more.
Credentialing
Opportunities On-Line. The Army Continuing Education Service's
Credentialing Opportunities On-Line Website identifies
the education, experience and testing needed to earn certification
or licenses for hundreds of civilian jobs. It tells the soldier
what to study, what work experience is required (and) what the
educational requirements are, so the soldier can manage his own
pathway to the credentials he may need.
Military
Match.
Provides free resume posting and job board services for transitioning military healthcare
professionals.
The
School Finder. Servicemembers and veterans can now search
over 4,000 military-friendly schools to find the program that
works best for their lifestyle.
