Independent Living

What is the Independent Living Program?

The ILP assists foster care youths ages 15-21 in developing the skills necessary to make the transition from foster care to independent living. Independent Living services include activities that are based on a written assessment of life skills.

Examples of independent living skills may include:
  • support for career exploration
  • education
  • employment assistance
  • money management
  • housing
  • transportation
  • legal issues

What is an Education and Training Voucher (ETV)?

The ETV Program will allow Idaho to help youth make a smoother transition to self-sufficiency and independence by providing funding that will help them receive an education, training and services not covered by another funding source.
