Batches:

9-DMT-158
9-DMT-160
9-DMT-161
9-DMT-163

Dear Vanceril 84 mcg Double Strength User:

We have just learned that some of the Vanceril 84 mcg Double Strength Convenience Pack inhalers may not contain drug substance and must be returned to the manufacturer. This situation should be considered serious and merits your immediate attention. It is important that you check your inhaler to see if it is from one of the batches listed above. If your Vanceril Double Strength Convenience Pack inhaler is from one of the recalled batches, please return it to your pharmacist.

You should not use inhalers from these batches. Using a canister without the drug ingredient would result in a lack of effectiveness, and you may experience increased asthma symptoms and need for additional asthma medications or medical treatment.

Please follow these steps right away.

  1. Look to see if any of these numbers are on your box or canister
    9-DMT-157
    9-DMT-158
    9-DMT-160
    9-DMT-161
    9-DMT-163

  2. If you find any one of these numbers, bring the medicine to your drug store. You will receive a replacement inhaler free of charge. If you do not find these numbers, you do not have to do anything. Just keep using Vanceril 84mcg Double Strength as your doctor prescribed.

  3. If you are not sure if you should return your medicine, bring your Vanceril 84mcg Double Strength to your pharmacist. He or she will let you know what to do.

We consider this matter to be serious and meriting serious attention. This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
