Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Inaugurate Tucson Passport Center June 30, 2008 – Tucson, Arizona

Under Secretary of State for Management Patrick F. Kennedy, Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Janice L. Jacobs, Tucson Mayor Robert E. Walkup, Tucson City Council Member Rodney Glassman, and Stanley, Inc. Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Phil Nolan will participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Tucson Passport Center in Tucson, Arizona, located at 7333 Rosewood Street. The ceremony will be held on Monday, June 30 from 11:00 a.m. to noon. A full listing of participants will be available at the ceremony.

The Tucson Passport Center is the State Department’s newest passport printing and mailing center. When operating at full capacity, the Center will print and mail over 10 million passports annually. Beginning in October 2008, the Center is expected to produce yearly between 800,000 and 2 million Border Crossing Cards, the visa documents issued to Mexican citizens who live near the United States border. Stanley, Inc. is the contractor operating the Tucson Passport Center under State Department direction and supervision.

Media tours of the Tucson Passport Center are available on June 30. Reporters and crew should report to the Tucson Passport Center at 9:15 a.m. for video and photographic coverage. Tucson Passport Center and Department spokespersons will be available for video and audio interviews. Cameras must be in place for the ceremony by 10:15 a.m.
