Ambassador William L. Swing Elected Director General of The International Organization for Migration

The United States is pleased by today’s election of Ambassador William Lacy Swing as the next Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). A six-time U.S. Ambassador and two-time Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General, Ambassador Swing brings to this important post unsurpassed international experience and a vision of IOM as an organization committed to managing migration to the benefit of all.

Ambassador Swing will take up his new post in October.
