Deputy Secretary of State John D. Negroponte To Address North American Forum

Deputy Secretary of State John D. Negroponte will address the fourth North American Forum at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17 in the Briefing Center of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 1615 H Street, N.W., Washington, DC. Deputy Secretary of State Negroponte will take questions from the forum participants following his remarks.

The North American Forum offers non-partisan, off-the-record conversation among public, private and non-profit sector leaders from Canada, Mexico and the United States. Participants in the Forum explore joint approaches to the shared goals of security, prosperity and improved quality of life throughout North America.

The Forum is jointly chaired by former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz, former Premier of Alberta Peter Lougheed and former Finance Minister of Mexico Pedro Aspe. Other keynote speakers include Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman, and former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin.

This year’s Forum is hosted by the World Affairs Council of Northern California, which was the Forum’s founding organization and serves as its secretariat.
 
This keynote address is open for press coverage.
 
Pre-set time for cameras: 10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. from the main entrance.
Cameras must be pre-set between these times.  Access for cameras after 11:00 a.m. will not be permitted.
Final access time for writers and still photographers: 12:00 p.m. from the main entrance.

To attend this event, members of the media must present one of the following:(1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver's license or passport).
