Media Discussion with Legal and Business Fellowship Program ParticipantsThe Department of State's Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) funded participation of 36 young women lawyers and businesswomen from the Middle East and North Africa as part of the Legal and Business Fellowship Program (LBFP). Following six months studying and participating in business and legal fellowships at major U.S. companies or law firms, Fellows are now in Washington at the conclusion of their program and will be available to speak with reporters on the record and on camera about their impressions of America before and after participating in the MEPI Legal and Business Fellowship Program. The Fellows will meet with reporters on Wednesday, August 29, between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m. in the PA Conference Room (room 2208). Ross Kaplan of MEPI will introduce the speakers in English and Arabic. The first 15 minutes of discussion will be in English; the last 15 minutes can be conducted in Arabic.
The Legal and Business Fellowship Program provides participants with unique opportunities to learn management, business, and legal skills while working in the dynamic and productive U.S. business or legal environment in Washington DC, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, and San Jose. The Fellows arrived in the U.S. in mid-March 2007 to attend a four-week MBA or LLM executive seminar at The Wharton and Annenberg Schools of the University of Pennsylvania. In mid-April the women traveled to U.S. cities for five-month fellowships in large U.S. companies and top-tier law firms.

Reporters may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following forms of identification at the 23rd Street Entrance: 1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), 2) a photo ID issued by the employing media organization, or 3) a letter on official letterhead from their news organization verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo ID (driver's license or passport).
