Taken Question: Adriatic Charter Defense Ministers Meeting With Deputy Secretary Negroponte

Question:   Provide a readout of Deputy Secretary Negroponte’s meeting with Adriatic Charter Defense Ministers from Albania, Croatia and Macedonia.    
 
Deputy Secretary John Negroponte met this morning with Albanian Defense Minister Fatmir Mediu, Croatian Defense Minister Branko Vukelic, and Macedonian Defense Minister Lazar Elenowski.  The three Defense Ministers are in Washington for an Adriatic Charter Defense Ministerial with Defense Secretary Robert Gates.  Deputy Secretary Negroponte and the Defense Ministers discussed their aspirations for further Euro-Atlantic integration as well as progress toward reforms necessary for NATO membership.
