American Craft Artists’ Exhibition in Seoul

The U.S. Department of State’s ART in Embassies Program and the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, together with the American Chamber of Commerce of Korea, United Airlines, and Boeing Korea, are sponsoring Flights of Fantasy, an exhibition of four American craft artists at Seoul National University Museum of Art from July 5 to 20, 2007.

The four artists will be in Seoul for the exhibition’s grand opening and will conduct a weeklong series of outreach programs with Korean artists, students, opinion leaders, journalists, and members of the general public in both Seoul and Daegu.

Brad Story, a sculptor, Judith James, a textile artist, Michael James, a quilter, and Lisa Vershbow, a jewelry maker, are among twenty artists whose contemporary craft works are currently on display at Habib House, the U.S. Ambassador’s official residence in Seoul, as part of the ART in Embassies Program.

Since 1964, the ART in Embassies Program has been exhibiting original works of art by U.S. citizens in the public rooms of American diplomatic residences worldwide. These exhibitions provide international audiences with a sense of the quality, scope, and diversity of American art and culture.
