Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to Address the Africa Society of the National Summit on Africa

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will address the Africa Society of the National Summit on Africa on current U.S. policy towards the region with special emphasis on Sudan, on Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at 10:00 a.m., at the Academy for Educational Development’s Academy Hall, 1825 Connecticut Avenue, N.W., Washington D.C.

The mission of the Africa Society is to educate all Americans about Africa and its people; to build bridges of understanding, communication, and partnership through increased exposure, and to facilitate the continent’s social development and its ongoing political transition to more open economies and democratic societies.

This event is open for press coverage. Media should register with the Africa Society of the National Summit on Africa.

Pre-set for cameras and still photographers: 8:00 a.m. - 8:15 a.m.
Final access for writers: 9:30 a.m.

Media representatives who plan to attend must present one of the following press credentials: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on original letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (drivers license or passport).
