Installation of New Government in Lesotho

We congratulate the people and government of the Kingdom of Lesotho on its recent successful democratic National Assembly elections and the swearing in of the new Prime Minister. International observer missions judged the elections free and peaceful, reflecting the will of the Basotho people. Lesotho's commitment to the democratic process is an example for the region. We are also encouraged by the statements of opposition political party leaders who intend to address concerns regarding electoral procedures through Lesotho's courts. We renew our commitment to work with the people and the Government of Lesotho in building a strong and prosperous democracy.
