Frequently Asked Questions for Recipients

1. When can I expect my payment?

You should receive your payment within 120 days from the date of your contract. If you entered into duty after your contract was signed, then your contract date is your entry-on-duty date and you should receive your payment within 120 days of that date. For example, if you have been accepted but are not scheduled to begin work until a later date, your payments will begin until 120 days from your entry-on-duty date.

2. If, at some point, I want to transfer, what is the process for transfers?

If you want to transfer prior to completion of your initial two-year contract, LRP requires three letters: One from you stating why you would like to transfer; one from your immediate supervisor agreeing to your transfer and stating that your transfer won’t hurt their facility’s day-to-day operations; and one from the site where you would like to go, stating that they plan on hiring you, your hire date and position description.

3. What happens if I don't complete my service obligation?

Not completing your LRP contract places you into default. The default process is described completely in the LRP Recipient's Handbook. In summary, a formula is used to calculate how much LRP is entitled to recover for the remaining time not served on your contract. The formula takes into account how much money the LRP expended on your behalf, and how much time you did serve. For a full explanation, please see the LRP Recipient's Handbook.
