Man Accused of Honey Grove Shooting Arrested
in Oklahoma City |
|
Sherman,
TX - Oswald Jones was arrested at approximately 2:00pm today as he left
the apartment of a known associate in Oklahoma City. Jones was wanted in
Fannin County, Texas for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The
arrested was the culmination of a multi-agency and multi-jurisdictional
effort lead by the United States Marshal’s Joint East Texas Fugitive Task
Force.
On September 12, 2008 Jones is alleged to have shot his former girlfriend,
Katie Hicks, at her residence in Honey Grove. The investigation revealed
that Jones and Hicks had just gone through a breakup the night before and
Jones was at Hicks’ home the day of the incident to retrieve his belongings.
An argument ensued and Jones pulled out a gun and shot Hicks once in the
abdomen and once in the right thigh. Hicks was taken to the Paris Regional
Medical Center were she is recovering from her injuries.
The Honey Grove Police Department, Texas Ranger’s, and the Oklahoma City
Metro Fugitive Squad were all instrumental in the investigation. U.S.
Marshal John Moore said, “It is this type of dedication and commitment by
Deputy U.S. Marshals and our State and local law enforcement partners that
ensures those accused of these types of senseless acts of violence will be
brought to justice.” Annually, Deputy U.S. Marshals clear more than 54,000
warrants on fugitives wanted by state and local law enforcement authorities
in addition to 41,000 Federal fugitive warrants. |
