Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force LogoToledo, OH – The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force would like to announce the capture of Alton S. Bazemore on September 9, 2008 in Detroit, Michigan. Bazemore had been sought by the task force since late summer 2007 for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in Lucas County, Ohio, but he managed to elude capture at that time. The investigation continued and information was developed that Bazemore had moved to Detroit, Michigan.

The United States Marshals Service in Detroit was notified of the possible location of Bazemore. As the Deputies approached the residence, Bazemore ran inside and attempted to hide in the attic of the house. He was convinced to come down from the attic and was arrested. In addition to being wanted for Failing to Register, Bazemore had nine additional misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. Bazemore will face extradition back to Ohio and be returned to face his charges.

On September 10, 2008 the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, once again with the assistance of the Detroit, Michigan United States Marshals office, apprehended Jose Hernandez. He had been originally convicted of Corruption of Minor for engaging in sexual intercourse resulting in the pregnancy of a minor child. In addition, Hernandez had warrants for Ohio Parole Violation and Failure to Pay Child Support. The investigation led to a possible location in the Detroit, Michigan area. Deputies from Toledo and Detroit met in Detroit and continued the investigation. After a brief surveillance, Hernandez was seen on the front porch of a residence.
