A
fugitive wanted by the Sylvania Police Department was arrested by the U.S.
Marshals New York /New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force in Brooklyn, New
York on May 1, 2008, based on information generated by the Savannah Office
of the Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Tyoune Hasheen Young, 17, was being sought on warrants issued in Sylvania,
Georgia charging him with Murder. Young and a co-defendant are charged in
the shooting death of Natesha Nicole Williams on February 2, 2008 in
Sylvania, GA. The investigation revealed that on February 5, 2008, Young and
the co-defendant were stopped at the NY/NJ Port Authority bus terminal. The
co-defendant was detained and Young slipped through the system and
supposedly went to the Brooklyn, NY area. The case was referred to the U.S.
Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force to help locate and arrest
this subject. Numerous leads have been worked by both the Savannah Marshals
Fugitive Task Force and the Marshals NY/NJ Fugitive. Task Force members
worked leads in Camden, NJ that provided a possible location. New leads
generated by the Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force indicated that Young
was at a residence on Crescent Street in Brooklyn, NY living with his
mother.
The Marshals NY/NJ Fugitive Task Force went to the address on Crescent
Street in Brooklyn, NY at 6:00am. Young was found on the roof of the
residence trying to evade capture. He was arrested and is being held in New
York awaiting extradition back to Georgia.
Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the
apprehension of approximately 36,000 federal fugitives. More federal
fugitives are arrested by the Marshals Service than all other federal
agencies combined.The Savannah Office
of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of law
enforcement officers from the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Chatham
County Sheriff=s Department, the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police
Department, and the United States Marshals Service. The task force objective
is to seek out and arrest fugitives charged with violent crimes, drug
crimes, sex offenders, and other felonies. Last year, U.S. Marshals task
forces arrested more than 58,600 state and local fugitives on felony
charges.
