Task Force Takes Down West Side Robber

COLUMBUS, OH – Keenan Parks, wanted on charges of Aggravated Robbery, has been arrested by the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST). The SOFAST is a team of law enforcement officers lead by the U.S. Marshals Service. The suspect was arrested at 132 North Oakley Avenue in Columbus without incident.

A warrant was issued on April 17, 2008 for the 19 year old Parks charging him with the March 29, 2008 robbery of a woman at her west side Columbus home. Authorities allege that Parks knocked on the victim’s door and forced his way into the home when the victim answered. Once inside, it is alleged that Parks held a handgun to the victim’s head, demanding money. The victim gave money to Parks who then allegedly attempted to shoot her but his handgun malfunctioned. Authorities say that Parks then fixed the malfunction and fired a shot, narrowly missing the victim. Authorities say Parks then fled the scene. Witness statements and investigation of evidence at the scene conducted by the Columbus Division of Police led to Parks being suspected of committing the crime.

Last year, U.S. Marshals task forces arrested more than 27,000 state and local fugitives on felony charges. More federal fugitives are arrested by Marshals than all other federal agencies combined.
