U.S. MARSHALS ARREST SUBJECT WANTED
IN SLAYING IN TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, ALABAMA |
Atlanta, GA – On April 15, 2008, Investigators with the U.S. Marshal
Service’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF)
apprehended Timothy Wayne Garrison, Jr. at a residence in Hapeville,
Georgia. Acting on a investigative leads developed by the U.S.
Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force (GCRFTF) in
Birmingham, Alabama, SERFTF investigators were able to track
Garrison to an associate’s house on North Avenue in Hapeville.
Garrison was wanted by the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office (TCSO)
for Capital Murder.
The charges stem from a robbery that occurred in the early morning
hours of April 13, 2008. On that day, Timothy Garrison, age 22 and
his brother, Phillip Garrison, age 21, are accused of tricking a
woman into letting them into her house in Vance, Alabama. Once
inside, they allegedly robbed her and beat her to death. The victim,
age 69, had called 911 to report that someone had broken down the
back door of her house. Dispatchers heard the victim state that two
men had stopped by to check on her after hearing the break-in. It is
believed that the two men were actually the Garrison brothers and
they been the ones who broke her door. They claimed to be helping
her but instead they beat her, stole items from her house, and fled
before sheriff’s deputies could arrive on the 911 call. The Garrison
brothers had been in the area of the victim’s residence, visiting
one of her neighbors.
On April 13, 2008, Tuscaloosa County Investigators arrested Phillip
Garrison in Alabama. They then asked the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast
Regional Fugitive Task Force (GCRFTF) to assist in locating Timothy
Garrison. GCRFTF Investigators learned that within a short time of
the murder, Garrison fled Tuscaloosa County and traveled to
Birmingham, Alabama. From there, investigators believe that a
relative from Atlanta picked up Garrison and brought him to the
Metro Atlanta area. GCRFTF Investigators immediately reached out to
SERFTF investigators in Atlanta and asked for their assistance. With
the information provided by the Marshals in Birmingham, SERFTF
Investigators discovered that this relative asked friends in
Hapeville, Georgia to allow Garrison to stay with them for a few
days. These friends were seemingly unaware of Garrison’s murder
warrant. Upon entering the residence in Hapeville, SERFTF
investigators were met with little resistance and safely took
Garrison into custody. He is currently in the Fulton County Jail
waiting extradition to Alabama on the murder charges.
The U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF)
is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from the United
States Marshals Service, as well as, 27 other local, state and
federal agencies. The task force’s objective is to seek out and
arrest the region’s most violent offenders. Since the inception of
the task force in September of 2003, the U.S. Marshals SERFTF has
