Task Force Fugitive Arrests, Middle District of Louisiana
 
On 1/22/08, investigators from the Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force arrested Antoine Sims. Sims was wanted by the Baton Rouge (Louisiana) Police Department for attempted 1st Degree Murder, aggravated kidnapping, false imprisonment, aggravated battery, and theft. Sims is alleged to have held several victims at gun point in an attempt to get money owed to an associate. Sims is accused of chasing one victim down and shooting him several times as the victim tried to escape. MLFTF members obtained information that Sims was at a residence in Gonzales, Louisiana and responded to the scene. MLFTF members observed Sims outside of the residence and took him into custody without incident.

Also on 1/22/08, investigators from the Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force arrested Shawn Hammond. Hammond was wanted by the St. Tammany Parish (Louisiana) Sheriff’s Office (STPSO) for 2nd Degree Murder. Hammond and another associate are accused of shooting incident that resulted in the death of a man in Covington, Louisiana in November of 2007. The STPSO, working through the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, contacted the MLFTF and requested assistance in locating and arresting Hammond. MLFTF investigators obtained information that Hammond was at a residence in Baker, Louisiana and responded to the scene. MLFTF members contacted Hammond at the residence and took him into custody without incident.
