Fugitive On The Run With No Respect
For Law Enforcement Captured |
|
Tampa, FL - A man on bond for
Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) with a weapon
out Broward County was arrested in Tampa. On January 8, 2008 the
U.S. Marshals Tampa Bay Area Fugitive Task Force (TBAFTF)
coordinated with the, Tampa Police Department based on a leads sent
from the U.S. Marshals Service out of Miami FL helped locate the
fugitive in the Tampa Bay Area.
Michael Barnes, 21 years old, was wanted for Aggravated Assault on
Law Enforcement, after leading Miami Beach Police Department on a
high speed chase. During this high speed chase, Barnes tried to run
over an Officer with his vehicle, and caused injuries to the
Officer. Before being apprehended in Tampa, Barnes led Glynn County
Georgia Sheriff’s Department, Brunswick Georgia Police Department
and Deputy US Marshals out of Georgia on a high speed chase and got
away. Barnes has priors for Aggravated Assaults on LEO, Resisting
Arrest, and Obstructing Justice.
Members of the Task Force tracked Barnes to a residence in Tampa on
Jones Avenue North of Waters around noon. As Task Force Members
approached the area, Barnes was walking and noticed them and fled
once again. Because of the relentless efforts of the U.S. Marshals
Tampa Bay Area Fugitive Task Force (TBAFTF), Barnes was captured
around 9:15pm at the Greyhound Bus Station in Down Town Tampa.
The U.S. Marshals Tampa Bay Area Fugitive Task Force is made up of
Federal, State and Local law enforcement officers. The members of
the Task Force combine resources and efforts daily to track down
violent fugitives of Justice in the Tampa Bay Area and Nation Wide
through networking with Task Forces across the country.
