A fugitive wanted by Taunton,
Massachusetts Police Department for Murder was arrested by the U.S.
Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and Massachusetts
Law Enforcement officers this afternoon, December 7, 2007 at a
Pooler, Georgia motel.
Timothy J. Cassidy, 38, was being sought on a warrant issued in
Taunton, Massachusetts charging him with Murder that occurred on
November 21, 2007. The case was referred to the U.S. Marshals Rhode
Island Violent Fugitive Task Force to help locate and arrest this
subject. Leads generated by the Marshals Service Rhode Island Task
Force indicated that Cassidy might be the Pooler/Savannah, Georgia
area. They passed the information to the Marshals Southeast Regional
Fugitive Task Force in Savannah, Georgia.
The Savannah Task Force with the assistance of the Massachusetts
State Police and Taunton Police generated leads that indicated
Cassidy might be in a motel in the area. An alias that Cassidy might
be using was generated during the afternoon of December 7, 2007 and
Task Force officers began checking the hotels in the Pooler, GA
area. Upon checking the Microtel Inn and Suites on Highway 80 in
Pooler, Task Force officers found a person using the alias name. A
ruse was used to get the subject to open his room door and when he
did, officers immediately recognized him and placed in custody
without incident. Cassidy had changed his hair color and grown a
beard during the time he has been on the run.
Cassidy was taken to the Chatham County Jail to await extradition
back to Taunton, Massachusetts.
Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in
the apprehension of approximately 34,000 federal fugitives. More

The Savannah Office of the Southeast
Regional Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of law enforcement
officers from the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Chatham
County Sheriff=s Department, the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan
Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service. The task
force objective is to seek out and arrest fugitives charged with
