THE LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE ARRESTS MAN SOUGHT IN MULTIPLE AUSTIN STABBINGS

Lone Star Fugitive Task Force LogoSan Antonio – Today the United States Marshals Service sponsored Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) arrested Austin resident Bravlio Briones.

Briones is accused of getting into an argument with friends outside of the El Tijuana Bar at 10503 North Lamar Blvd. about 12:30 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2007. According to reports, Briones stabbed one man and ran over another man and then stabbed a third who tried to stop the fight. Another report states that Briones was shot in the arm, possibly by one of the victims. The Austin Police Department SWAT attempted to arrest Briones at his apartment earlier Tuesday. It took about two hours for Austin Police to evacuate nearby residents and send in a robot. The apartment was found to be empty and the LSFTF was called in to assist in locating and arresting Briones. Austin Detectives and the LSFTF Austin Division developed information that Briones may be hiding in San Antonio. The LSFTF San Antonio Division was notified and requested to set up surveillance at multiple locations. The LSFTF arrested Briones after spotting him in a vehicle in the 1600 block of Vance Jackson. Briones provided a false name but it did not fool the arresting officers since Briones has a distinct scar under his left eye that was plainly visible.

The United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette Collins said, “It was important to get this person off of the streets. He has a history of a bad temper and a history of aggravated assaults. He appears to be extremely dangerous as evidenced by the nature of his crimes.”
