THE LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE ARRESTS DIANE MONTANA

Lone Star Fugitive Task Force LogoSan Antonio Diane Montana had thought she had the perfect place to hide from authorities. The home she was renting had a root cellar. A hole had been cut in the floor boards and a dirt floor room large enough for an NBA player to stand upright had been dug out. In the back of this darkened room was a cutout ledge in which a person could hide. Montana’s plan was perfect except for the fact members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force do not stop looking until they catch their fugitive.

Montana, who was wanted for a federal supervised release violation stemming from a previous conviction for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, knew there was a federal warrant out for arrest and did not want to go back to jail. Task force officers had learned during the course of their investigation that Montana had rented a home on the 2800 block of Steves Road. When members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force entered the home their initial search was a failure. As they continued looking they discovered that two floor boards had been cut leading to a small entry way to the root cellar. A task force officer entered the cellar and discovered Montana hiding on a small ledge in the back of the room.

United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette Collins said, “Sometimes you have to dig a little deeper; but eventually good police work and solid team efforts yield positive results.”
