THE TEXAS SENATE RECOGNIZES THE LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE
Austin
– April marks the two year anniversary since the inception of the
Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. During that time the task force has
led the nation in arrests. On Monday, April 23, 2007, Texas State
Senator Jeff Wentworth will read a resolution from the Senate floor
of the State Capitol in Austin honoring the Lone Star Fugitive Task
Force and its accomplishments. This recognition will take place at
approximately 1:30 p.m.
The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, led by the United States Marshals
Service, is the primary law enforcement agency responsible for
fugitive enforcement in the Western District of Texas. The task
force utilizes the skills and talents of local, state and federal
law enforcement officers from the member agencies to assure that all
fugitives face justice. Based out of the United States Marshals
Service offices in El Paso, Austin, Waco, Midland, Del Rio, Pecos,
Alpine, and San Antonio, the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force is one of
the most efficient fugitive task forces in the United States.
United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette
Collins said, “The success of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force is a
direct result of the combined efforts of its member agencies. The
teamwork demonstrated by the task force has led to a record number
of arrests, directly resulting in safer streets in our hometowns.”
Texas Senator Jeff Wentworth will read the resolution at
approximately 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2007 on the Senate
Floor of the Texas Capital. Immediately following, Lone Star
Fugitive Task Force representatives will be on the south steps of
