THE LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE ASSISTS THE SAN ANTONIO POLICE DEPARTMENT SWAT TEAM IN ARREST OF LATIN KING GANG MEMBER

Lone Star Fugitive Task Force LogoSan Antonio – The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and the San Antonio Police Department’s (SAPD) Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) partnered to locate and arrest fugitive Latin King Gang member Gilbert Rodriguez late yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, Lone Star Fugitive Task Force members located Rodriguez’s vehicle at a residence on the east side of San Antonio and contacted SAPD SWAT. Before SWAT could get there and the house could be surrounded, Rodriguez exited the house and left in his vehicle. Since SWAT team members were already close in their vehicles, a plan was made to conduct a felony car stop. Rodriguez was contained in his vehicle by SAPD SWAT vehicles and removed from his vehicle without incident. Rodriguez already had 4 Felony and 2 Misdemeanor warrants. The charges ranged from Evading Arrest to Aggravated Robbery with a Deadly Weapon. Rodriguez may face additional charges since he was caught with a stolen AK 47 Assault Rifle, a .25 caliber semi-auto handgun, a .40 caliber Glock, approximately 68 grams of cocaine, approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine (meth), approximately 318 grams of Marijuana, and over $2000.00 in cash.

The United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette Collins said, “The history of this fugitive and the weaponry and drugs associated with him, lend to a very dangerous person in our community.
