THE LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE ANNOUNCES THE ARREST OF
JUAN RAMIREZ

Midland - On February 2nd, 2007, United States Marshals in Corpus Christi arrested Juan Ramirez on warrants issued by Ector County for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact.

On January 5th, 2007, the Ector County Sheriff’s Office, a member agency of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, led by the United States Marshals Service in the Western District of Texas, requested that the Midland/Odessa Division of the Task Force locate and arrest Ramirez. Task Force Investigators with the United States Marshals in Midland began working with Ector County Sheriff’s Deputies to track Ramirez. On January 30th information was developed that Ramirez was in the Corpus Christi area. Investigators contacted the United States Marshals Service in Corpus Christi who then joined the investigation to locate Ramirez.

On February 2nd, United States Marshals located Ramirez in Robstown, just west of Corpus Christi, where he was arrested without incident. Sheriff’s deputies from Ector County are planning to travel to Corpus Christi within the week to pick up Ramirez and return him to Odessa to face charges.

United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas, LaFayette Collins, said, “The arrest of Ramirez demonstrates why the United States Marshals Service began the Task Force. By utilizing the combined talents of local, state, and federal law enforcement, we were able to find this fugitive before he could destroy anymore innocent lives.”
