DFW FAST Captures Escapee

DFW FAST LogoDallas, Texas - United States Marshals Service Dallas Fort Worth Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (DFW FAST), along with members of the Dallas Police Department, arrested Corey Caldwell at the Lido Adult Theater located at 7035 John Carpenter Freeway in Dallas, TX. Caldwell was wanted by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office for Escape. The arrest ended a lengthy, joint fugitive investigation by the Dallas County Sheriffs Office and DFW FAST.

According to court records, on October 13, 2006 Caldwell appeared in court in reference to Engaging in Organized Crime warrants that were issued April 2, 2004. Caldwell surrendered on June 23, 2004. He was then released on bond. The charges for Engaging in Organized Crime were related to approximately 60 home burglaries in the Desoto and Duncanville areas of Dallas County. Upon the forfeiture of Caldwells’ bond, he was ordered detained and arrested by Dallas County Sheriffs Deputies. Caldwell managed to escape from a temporary holding area prior to being transferred into the Dallas County Jail system. Caldwell is considered a possible suspect in over 200 similar home burglaries that have occurred since the escape and in the same area as the original home burglaries.

According to Randy Ely, United States Marshal for the Northern District of Texas, the DFW FAST is to coordinate & assist state and local departments in the apprehension of violent criminals. By working together, DFW FAST has managed to arrest over 6000 violent fugitives since the establishment of the task force in January 2004. DFW FAST consists of 21 participating agencies located in the Dallas Fort Worth metropolitan area.

“The arrest of Mr. Caldwell is just another shinning example of the outstanding cooperative law enforcement work that is done here in North Texas on a daily basis. By combining the energies of so many different agencies through DFW FAST, we are able to dedicate significant resources to some of the most notorious criminals here in North Texas. With Mr. Caldwell back in custody the residents of this area can rest assured that he will no longer victimize unsuspecting neighborhoods through his continued pattern of criminal behavior. “-  Randy Ely, United States Marshal.
