FELONY COUPLE APPREHENDED

James M. Wahlrab, United States Marshal for the Southern District of Ohio, announces the arrest of fugitive couple William and Lisa Cook. The husband and wife team had outstanding federal and local warrants for crimes committed in both the State of Ohio and the State of Kentucky.

William Cook was indicted by a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Kentucky for Interstate Transportation of Child Pornography and was wanted by the Georgetown, Kentucky Police Department for 1st Degree Rape of a Child. His wife, Lisa Cook, was wanted by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department for Failure to Appear in court for a burglary and theft charges. The couple, who became aware of the warrants in late December, took off on the run in an attempt to avoid apprehension.

Late in the afternoon on January 8th, the U.S. Marshals Office in Dayton, Ohio received an investigative lead that the fugitive couple could possibly be residing with family in the Springfield area. Deputies teamed up with officers from the Springfield Police Department and began searching for possible relatives and the fugitives’ vehicle. Late that evening, authorities located the fugitives’ vehicle parked near the Sunset Apartment Complex on Sunset Ave. Authorities then determined that a relative lived in the apartment complex and confirmed with other sources that the fugitives were staying in the apartment.

The vehicle and the apartment were maintained under surveillance until approximately 8 a.m. on January 9th. At that time, U.S. Marshals entered the apartment, located the fugitives and placed them under arrest. The fugitive couple was taken by surprise and never knew what happened until they were in the custody of law enforcement authorities. Springfield Police Officers transported Lisa Cook to the Clark County Jail where she awaits extradition to Scioto County. U.S. Marshals transported William Cook to Dayton to appear before a federal magistrate judge before being extradited back to the Eastern District of Kentucky.

The U.S. Marshals Service was America’s first federal law enforcement agency and each year arrests more fugitives than all other federal law enforcement agencies combined.
