Arrest of Byron Williams

Baton Rouge, LA - On 11/20/07, members of the Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force (MLAFTF) arrested Byron Williams in Baton Rouge. Williams was wanted by the Baton Rouge Police Department for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, resisting arrest, and simple battery stemming from a domestic violence incident. MLFTF investigators developed information that Williams knew he was wanted and had changed vehicles several times to avoid arrest. MLFTF investigators obtained an address and vehicle description for Williams and established a surveillance of the residence.

MLFTF members attempted to make contact at the residence and observed Williams look out a side window. Williams refused to come out of the house and negotiations were initiated. After a 90 minute stand off, Williams exited the residence with his toddler daughter in his arms. Williams eventually agreed to give his daughter to his wife and was taken into custody. Williams has a previous arrest for attempted first degree murder and armed robbery. Williams recently finished serving a ten years of a twenty year sentence for six counts of PWTD cocaine. Williams also has a parole violation warrant that will send him back to prison to finish the remainder of the twenty year sentence.
