Accused Child Molester, Georgia Prison Escapee Arrested by U.S.
Marshals
Tallahassee, FL - The U.S.
Marshals Service arrested a man wanted by the Livingston Parish
Sheriff’s Office and Georgia authorities today in Tallahassee,
Florida.
William G. Hubbard, 39, was arrested
at a job site pursuant to several warrants from multiple
jurisdictions. Hubbard was serving time in a Georgia County Jail in
early 2006 when he decided to walk away from a work release program.
Hubbard turned up in Livingston Parish and found employment at a
local towing company. Livingston Parish investigators believed that
in March 2007, Hubbard was responsible for molesting an 8-year-old
girl and then making off with a vehicle belonging to the victim’s
father. Hubbard was on the run once again. The case was referred to
the Baton Rouge based Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force (MLFTF)
and investigators quickly went to work trying to find him. MLFTF
investigators obtained information that Hubbard was trying to hide
out in the Tallahassee area and was working for a Labor Ready
temporary service. MLFTF investigators contacted the U.S. Marshals
Task Force there to end Hubbard’s run before he found his next
victim. Hubbard was taken into custody this afternoon on a work site
outside Tallahassee.
“Sexual offenders are dangerous,
violent people. Fugitives like Hubbard move from state to state
preying on children because they think we won’t find them. We made
this case a priority and are excited that we were able to find this
predator before he found more victims,” said US Marshal Carey
Jenkins.
Hubbard was booked into a Florida
jail awaiting extradition to either Livingston Parish or Georgia.
Hubbard was also wanted by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s
Office for failure to appear on separate charges.
The Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task
Force, coordinated by the U.S. Marshals Service, is a multi-agency
task force that targets persons wanted for violent crimes, narcotic
offenses, and sexual offenders in the Capitol area and surrounding
Parishes. Contributing agencies are the Baton Rouge Police
Department, the East and West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Offices, the
Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, and the Louisiana State
Probation and Parole. For more information about the US Marshals
