ATF/U.S. MARSHALS CENTRAL CITY NARCOTICS RING FUGITIVE, TONY “BOOCHIE” Jones, ARRESTED BY CRESCENT STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE

On the morning of June 06, 2007, the U.S. Marshals Eastern District of Louisiana Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force (CSFTF) arrested Tony “Boochie” Jones, 24 years old, at his girlfriend’s residence in the 500 block of Central Ave. Jefferson, Louisiana. Jones was found hiding under a bed at the residence and was arrested without incident. Jones was wanted on a November 2006, federal warrant/indictment charging him and eight others with violations of the federal gun control act and the federal controlled substances acts.

The New Orleans ATF office and the New Orleans Police Department conducted the investigation that resulted in the EDLA federal indictment on the nine person group for distribution of crack cocaine, heroin, and marijuana along with federal firearms violations in the Central City area of New Orleans, Louisiana. The conspiracy is alleged to have begun prior to January of 2000 and continued to about November of 2006. Another member of the conspiracy is charged with having possessed an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Jones has been profiled several time on the local news and was also featured in the Metropolitan Crime Commission’s Time Picayune “Wanted by the Law” feature. Jones has a prior narcotics conviction in Orleans Parish for heroin possession.

After the initial arrests of the other alleged members of the conspiracy, ATF asked CSFTF for assistance in the Jones fugitive investigation.

Acting U.S. Marshal, Roxanna Irwin stated, “this is just another example of the work that the task force does day in and out. The work that we do can only be accomplished with the support of our member agencies working together. The additional support that the U.S. Attorney General has given to CSFTF as part of “Operation Debris Removal” has also increased our arrests.” Current CSFTF members include the New Orleans Police Department, Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Probation and Parole, Bogalusa Police Department, Social Security OIG, and the U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Services. CSFTF currently averages ten to fifteen felony fugitive warrants arrests per week.
