Savannah Fugitive Captured
A fugitive wanted on outstanding
state charges for Armed Robbery and Aggravated Battery has been
arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive
Task Force in Savannah, Georgia.
Shahee Rakee Gordon, 20, was being
sought on two warrants issued in Savannah, Georgia charging him with
Armed Robbery and Aggravated Battery that happened on October 15,
2007. Gordon is accused of robbing a man in the 4000 block of
Ogeechee Road. Gordon kicked and then stood on the victim’s neck and
then beat the victim with a pipe.
The Marshals Fugitive Task Force
generated leads that led task force officers to the America’s Best
Value Hotel on Ogeechee Road in Savannah, GA. The leads indicated
that he was in one of three suspected rooms. Each room was checked
and he was found in the last room hiding between the bed and the
wall. He was arrested without incident. Subsequent to the arrest,
Marshals Task Force officers found a loaded Glock 40 Cal handgun
stuck in Gordon’s shoe next to the bed.
Gordon was taken to the Chatham County Jail to await his court
appearance.
Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in
the apprehension of approximately 34,000 federal fugitives. More
federal fugitives are arrested by the Marshals Service than all
other federal agencies combined.
The Savannah Office of the Southeast
Regional Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of law enforcement
officers from the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Chatham
County Sheriff's Department, the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan
Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service. The task
force objective is to seek out and arrest fugitives charged with
violent crimes, drug crimes, sex offenders, and other felonies. Last
year, U.S. Marshals task forces arrested more than 27,000 state and
local fugitives on felony charges.
