U.S. Marshals
Violent Fugitive Task Force
Apprehends Armed Robbery Suspect
In an early morning
fugitive operation, members of the U.S. Marshal’s North Florida
Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended Charles Levon Brown, age 23,
a native of Tallahassee, FL. Brown was apprehended at an apartment
located at 2502 Holton St., Tallahassee, FL by the U.S. Marshals
task force, with assistance from uniformed police officers from the
Tallahassee Police Department. Brown was currently being sought by
the Tallahassee Police Department and the Leon County Sheriff’s
Office for three counts of Armed Robbery with a Firearm and he had a
total of 17 outstanding warrants for his arrest. Brown, who was
listed as Armed and Dangerous, had been the target of a fugitive
investigation by the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force for
over two months. After identifying Brown within the residence and he
refused to open the door, task force members forced entry into the
apartment and arrested Brown on the multiple warrants. Subsequent to
Brown’s arrest, a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun was recovered
from the apartment which was later determined to have been stolen in
a separate criminal incident in Tallahassee. U.S. Marshals contacted
the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) who has opened a
federal criminal investigation into the firearm offense with federal
prosecution pending. In the meantime, Brown was booked into the Leon
County Jail by the U.S. Marshals Task Force on the 17 local
outstanding warrants.
U.S. Marshal Dennis Williamson stated that this case is yet another
shinning example of the extraordinary cooperation between the U.S.
Marshals and the state and local law enforcement agencies
participating with the local task force to track down and capture
dangerous fugitives who are wanted for violent offenses. The United
States Marshals Service spearheads the task force which is comprised
of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals Service, Florida
Department of Law Enforcement, Tallahassee City Police Department,
and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. |
