Escapee Being Sought by U.S. Marshals Task Force
Pensacola, FL ‑The United
States Marshals Northern Florida Violent Fugitive Task Force is
asking the public's assistance in locating federal inmate,
Michael Joseph Derenak who escaped from
the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) in Pensacola, Florida. Derenak was
discovered missing after he stated that “he was going to the
restroom,” at a offsite work detail at NAS Pensacola at about 10:30
this morning. He was officially placed on escape status at 4:00 p.m.
It is unknown whether or not he received any outside assistance at
this time.
"As always, we are working with the officials from the Bureau of
Prisons and making his apprehension a top priority," said US Marshal
Dennis Williamson., Marshal for the Northern District of Florida.
Derenak is a white male, with brown and gray hair and brown eyes. He
is 6'02" tall and weighs approximately 185 lbs. Derenak arrived at
FPC Pensacola in December 2004 and was serving the remainder of a
235 month sentence for a Cocaine Conspiracy conviction.
Derenak is not considered armed and dangerous at this time, but all
precautions should be taken if this fugitive is encountered. If
