Fugitive is Shot as he Attempts to Run Over Law Enforcement Officers

Orlando, FL - Federal and state law enforcement officers today shot and wounded an Orlando man after he allegedly attempted to run over an Orange County Deputy and a Deputy U.S. Marshal with a vehicle during an arrest attempt in west Orange County.

Artrall Golden, 22, was shot in the arm and abdomen at approximately 6:30 a.m. after reportedly driving a car through the garage door of a residence and speeding the vehicle toward two officers standing in the driveway. Both officers purportedly avoided the oncoming car and opened fire on the suspect. Golden continued to drive for a short distance, but returned to the scene to surrender and seek medical care.

The arrest attempt came as part of a national effort led by the U.S. Marshals Service known as Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally). Operation FALCON combines the efforts and resources of federal, state and local law enforcement officers to locate and apprehend criminals wanted for violent crimes.

Golden was wanted on a number of felony warrants, each with multiple charges, including aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, assault, robbery and drug-related charges.

Golden was taken to an Orlando hospital where is listed in serious condition.

U.S. Marshals are cooperating fully with authorities from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which is responsible for coordinating the incident investigation.

Since its inception in 2005, Operation FALCON has made over 30,000 arrests and cleared over 38,000 warrants. It continues to be the largest and most successful fugitive apprehension effort in U.S. Marshals history.
