United States Marshals Arrest Violent Indiana Gang Members |
|
Phoenix, AZ – A fugitive member of the Black Gangster Disciples
Street Gang based in Chicago, IL was arrested in a Phoenix apartment
complex by the U.S. Marshals Phoenix HIDTA Task Force today.
Anthony Carr was wanted for Homicide and Aggravated Assault in
Chicago. After a verbal altercation inside a parlor, Carr allegedly
fired several rounds from an AK-47 into the parlor, killing one man
and injuring several others. Carr was considered to be armed and
extremely dangerous.
Information was developed that the fugitive was in an apartment near
30th Street and Roosevelt. U.S. Marshal Task Force members set up
surveillance on the apartment and confirmed Carr’s presence. The
apartment was surrounded and Carr was contacted by telephone to
surrender. Carr gave up peacefully and was arrested without
incident. He was transported to the Maricopa County 4th Avenue Jail,
where he awaits extradition to Illinois.
“I want to commend the efforts of our task force members in taking
an extremely dangerous criminal off the streets of Phoenix. If Mr.
Carr thinks he can come to this city and hide, he is wrong”, says
U.S. Marshal David Gonzales.
The HIDTA Task Force agencies include: United States Marshals
Service, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Mesa
Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Maricopa
County Probation Office, Phoenix Police Department, Chandler Police
