Out in the Atlantic Ocean, Hurricane Kyle slowly moves northwesttowards the United States and Canada. At the time this image was taken onSeptember 27th, 2002, Kyle was at a Level 1 with maximum winds of 75 knots (1 knot = 1.15 mph). Kyle was at this strength from the 25th to the 29th, but wasdowngraded to tropical storm status from September 29th to the 30th. From thenuntil mid-day on October 1st, Kyle slowed to a tropical depression, but regainedsome momentum during the middle of the day on the 1st to return to tropicalstorm status. As of October 4th, Kyle was about 300 miles (490 km) southwest of Bermuda. Kyle is not expected to make landfall by the 7th, but is expected to pick up speed and may be drawn toward land by the Lili system and another over the Great Lakes region. This true-color image wasacquired by the Terra MODIS instrument.
